Before we get a feel for my journey through Central Park let’s have little background.
Central Park is located in central Manhattan and is home to about 40 million visitors each year. The park has a lot more history about stretching as far back as the 1850’s. But I’m not here to talk about all that. The truth is it’s 2017 and most people don’t have the time to (or care to) learn about the history surrounding this old yet beautiful park.
I entered through the 59th street entrance right in front of the The Maine Monument. It was a pretty eye catching statue. On the way in I spotted the classic caricature artists that are littered throughout the city. While their prices might not be the cheapest it is a fun way to pass the time and take home a memory.
I continued walking
around and stumbled onto the Pond. Beautiful and serene filled with ducks ( Canada Geese ) who are rather friendly and will have no hesitation to come up to you and ask for bread. At the pond you can sit down relax and enjoy the view.
Central Park is also home to the famous Central Park Zoo where Alex the Lion and the Penguins of Madagascar reside ( No, not really I just like the movie). Since it is March at the time of me writing this the zoo was closed. However past experiences with family and friends makes the Central Park Zoo a great place to go on a hot summer’
s day.
Central Park is also home to Wollman Rink where I had a great time slipping sliding and falling on my 4$$. Another one of Central Parks wonderfully family oriented offerings.
Central Park is one of the only places in Manhattan that one can take a break from the problems of everyday life. A place where someone can enjoy life and go with the flow. One of the more relaxing and calm places in the middle of a rather hectic city.
